RIM’s BlackBerry Device: The Beauty and The Beast

BlackBerry devices are smartphones that offer secure wireless connections anywhere any time. Designed by Research In Motion USA Inc, BlackBerry was originally reputable for accessing emails and instant messaging while on the move, but has since become a reliable integrated wireless communications platform. Telecommunications networks in Nigeria like MTN, Glo, Etisalat, and Airtel (former Zain) currently carry BlackBerry phones on their networks.

The BlackBerry platform offers two communications solutions. The first is BlackBerry Internet Solution (BIS), which is designed for single individuals who want to access internet tools like email, instant messaging, social media, and the web while on the move. The other is BlackBerry Enterprise Solution (BES), which allows mobile workers to access enterprise information while on the move keeping them well informed at any time.

BlackBerry phones are proprietary, designed by Research In Motion RIM USA Inc, and carried by only telecoms networks with license to do so. A number of telecommunications companies in Nigeria support BlackBerry smartphones like Globacom, Airtel, Etisalat, and MTN. Genuine unlocked Blackberry phones are available from leading mobile phones retail stores in Nigeria.

BlackBerry Internet Solution BIS

BlackBerry Internet Solutions are designed for single individuals who need access to internet, social media, instant messaging, and email while on the move. Small firms that do not have corporate email infrastructure, but use ISP emails can also use BlackBerry internet Solution. BIS can be used by freelancers to keep in touch with email accounts and clients while on the move. Once an email is sent to your normal email address, it is pushed to your BlackBerry device so that you can access it from anywhere without any need for a computer. BlackBerry enables you stay in contact with your clients. With BIS, you can access up to 10 personal and corporate email accounts from your BB device.

BIS also supports POP3 email accounts. With your BlackBerry device you can compose, send, receive, and read your e-mails while on the move. You will also be able to read and view email attachments in formats like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat. BlackBerry also supports Instant Messaging like MSN, Google Talk, BlackBerry Messenger.

BlackBerry smart phones also access normal phone services like calls, SMS, and MMS, hence you do not need to carry another phone, your BlackBerry can do it all. Like most modern mobile phones, BlackBerry comes with organiser tools like calendar, memo, and so on. Some BlackBerry devices come with full QWERTY keyboard.

Internet access is part of the DNA of BlackBerry. BB phones can be used to access wireless internet enabling you to access full HTML pages or WAP pages using its built-in web browser. BlackBerry devices can also double as wireless modems enabling you access internet services with your Laptop or desktop using your BlackBerry device as a wireless modem. BlackBerry devices are smart phones and hence may come with features found in business connectivity phones like Wi-Fi, MMS, camera, media player, maps, GPS, and so on. You can also download apps for your BlackBerry device for fun, games and productivity.

BlackBerry Enterprise Solution BES

BlackBerry Enterprise Solution (BES) is BIS and more. The more, being that BES allows secure enterprise communications between mobile workers and corporate IT infrastructure. Buying BB from network vs phone store

As far as price is concerned there is no real benefit from buying your BB phones directly from the network operator. Unlike in other countries (especially in the west), where subscribers get subsidies or easy payment contracts when they by BB and other smartphones from operators, Nigerian networks offer no form of subsidy or easy payment options. In fact, you may even end-up paying more albeit disguised as one month free subscription.

The only real advantages of buying your BlackBerry devices from the carrier is for technical support and to guarantee the integrity of the BlackBerry device. The downside is that the phone is locked to the network requiring you to unlock it before you can use your BlackBerry device on another network different from the one you bought it from.

To get a BB device not locked to any network buy from a retail store, but not just any retail store so as not to buy a fake BlackBerry phone. Buy from a store with a good reputation in dealing on mobile phones like an authorised Nokia or Samsung phones dealers.

Prices of some BB Phones, Tablets and Devices

FACEBOOK(mark zuckerberg) and skype sign video chat deal

facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg has struck a deal with internet telephony provider Skype that will add video chat to the social networking site.

The partnership will create a Skype widget within Facebook, allowing two people to talk face-to-face.
...
The widget does not require Facebook users to download a specific service from Skype before video calling each other. Users can instead download a plug-in for the video chat tool, which takes between 10 and 20 seconds, in order to start talking face-to-face.

Zuckerberg praised the service for using the "best technology" with the "best social infrastructure".

Zuckerberg said: "This type of thing is only possible because the social infrastructure already exists.

"The system already knows that we're connected", he said in a demonstration with a colleague.

He said: "We already have a pipe open between us, so new apps like video chat can just flow across that.

"It's not the case like with traditional Skype, where both people have to have downloaded Skype beforehand."

The move comes after Google launched its own social network, Google+, at the end of last month.

Skype is in the process of being acquired by Microsoft in a £5.2bn deal.

Doug Bewsher, Skype's chief marketing officer, has been let go, while seven other executives have had their roles cut, ahead of the takeover.

10 Ways to improve/generate traffic to your Blog!!

1. Create link clusters within your blog

A link cluster is a group of links that you can point at a post or page to improve its search engine ranking. Let’s say you have a post that’s ranked for ‘stupid business ideas’. Edit 10 of your other posts to create links (using ‘stupid business ideas’ as the anchor text) to the ‘stupid business ideas’ post and you will surely move up in Google for that keyword. This process can be implemented in about 10 minutes and can be used for any keyword your site ranks for or is trying to rank for.

2. Rework HTML title tags of trafficked posts

By watching your stats, you can often identify posts that get search traffic from a keyword, even though the keyword isn’t listed in the HTML title of the post. By editing your posts’ HTML titles to add the keywords they cover, you can strengthen the rankings and therefore the traffic that the post generates. You can easily make a difference with this method in less than 20 minutes. This method combines very well with #1.

3. Invite your readers to connect with you on Twiiter and Facebook

You can never ever have too many friends on SU and Facebook. Inviting existing readers to find you on these services with a post should take less than 20 minutes.

4. Save your best posts for the best times of the week

Writing a home-run post on a Saturday afternoon will probably happen from time to time. However, does your blog have good traffic on Saturdays? Analyzing your blog’s stats to determine when it naturally has the most traffic can get more eyes on a great post, which will translate to more social votes and more links. If you have created the post of your life, wait for a good day to publish – it will cost you about 1 minute on a later date to put it up.

5. Edit your post one more time

How can you improve your title? How can you improve your first paragraph? Small details in your post, especially in the beginning of your post, can make an enormous difference in its ability to draw social traffic and links. You can definitely improve your title, first paragraph, formatting, and grammar within 30 minutes.

6. Stop writing about yourself. Start solving problems

Surfers become readers when a blog provides something that is wanted. A casual visitor may read your blog because they find training, answers to problems, entertainment, or something else they want. This more than likely will mean that they won’t want to read about you, your girlfriend, your cats, your kids, or your catastrophes (unless you have a personal blog that your friends read). Discontinuing the off-topic posts will help you to develop more repeat traffic and takes exactly 0 minutes to implement.

7. Subscribe to the feeds of your industry’s major players

That way, you won’t miss important news releases. When news breaks in your industry, there will be a lot of extra traffic searching for information on the event. Adding your thoughts will almost always generate extra traffic. Subscribing to the feeds of your industry’s top sites should take no more than 15 minutes.

8. Give a great post to a prominent blog

Let’s say that you took the time to write something great. Donating your post to a great blogger can help you to create a win-win. The great blogger gets a great piece of content that will bring him social traffic and links and you can create exposure for your name and brand. Emailing your post to a great blogger or blog takes less than 10 minutes.

9. Go to the store

Look at magazines. Pay special attention to the types of titles that are used on the covers. Write down the most interesting titles and think about what makes them interesting. In order to generate buzz around a post, a great title is an absolute necessity. More on this topic here: The Cosmo Headline Technique for Blogging Inspiration. You should be able to find some good title ideas in about 30 minutes.

10. Answer your email and comment questions

Nothing will show a reader that you care more than answering an question (even if you have already answered that question 100 times on your site). Why do people read your blog? Because you solve their problems. Why will they come back again and again to your blog? Because you solve their problems. Answering a person’s email or comment question should take less than 5 minutes.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENT

Here is how to cancel a credit card payment

Things You'll Need to do cancel it

  • Credit card number
  • Phone
  • Credit card issuer phone number (on back of credit card)
  • Pen and paper
HERE ARE THE 5 STEPS TO   FOLLOWS
    • 1
Locate the credit card number for the card for which you wish to cancel a payment. Make sure you know where the account number is located, and be ready to key the number into your touch-tine phone or to speak the number over the phone. This number is on your credit card, or you might find it on a recent bill.
    • 2
Look on the back of the credit card for the customer service number, or find the phone number on your recent bill. It usually begins with "1-800." Call the number.
    • 3
Give the information requested by the customer service representative at the credit card company or by the company's automated response system.
